Groups Beginning in October, 2010

Back to school is now in full swing. In the spirit of learning, why not participate in a group geared toward self-improvement? AWOH is pleased to be recruiting participants for two groups at this time. The first is particularly helpful for anxious children to continue develop anxiety-reduction skills in a school setting and the second is appropriate for teens and adults looking to achieve a personal goal.

FALL SOCIAL: Children's Social Anxiety-Reduction Group
Facilitated by Audrey E. Boggs, Psy.D.
Alternating Saturdays, 11 AM to 12:30 PM

Meets every other Saturday beginning October, 2010 (actual start date TBD depending on enrollment) for a total of 8 sessions. Each week focuses on a topic geared toward decreasing anxiety and increasing self-esteem as well as participation in fun group games and activities. Dr. Boggs will utilize the Social Effectiveness Therapy for Children and Adolescents (SET-C) and Coping Cat approaches which have both shown validity in research studies with socially anxious children. In addition, she will incorporate other effective interventions used at AWOH such as her own Butterfly Scale and Consonations techniques, the second of which was developed for the treatment of selective mutism. Group activities are offered in a non-intrusive way for children to develop social comfort and cooperation skills with their peers. School-aged children ages 5-11 will be grouped by age depending on the ages of children enrolled. Group fee of $75 per session covers all materials, snacks and activities. Discounted rate of $50 per session is available if 4 or more sessions are purchased at a time.

AWOH Moves to the San Francisco Bay Area!!

The A Work of Heart Practice of Dr. Audrey Boggs is now fully established in the San Francisco Bay Area. While AWOH began in Santa Monica, CA (Los Angeles Area) in 2002, Dr. Boggs later decided to move her practice to the area in which she grew up. When AWOH opened in San Rafael, CA in January, 2010, Dr. Boggs continued to split her time between the San Francisco and Los Angeles Areas. However, now AWOH has one main home in Northern California. AWOH serves counties including Marin, San Francisco, Sonoma, Alameda and Contra Costa and patients and clients out of the area by special arrangement. Dr. Boggs remains in contact with providers in the Los Angeles Area and will likely continue to have occasional speaking engagements in the Southern California Areas.
